My mix reviewed by a Grammy award winner!

Around four years ago, I worked on mixing and mastering an album for the French artist Olivier Mobilhome Blues. The recording took place in Guadeloupe after the COVID-19 pandemic with limited resources but with talented musicians. After mastering the album but before its release, I sought professional feedback. I was enrolled in online courses by Andrew Scheps, who I regard as my mentor, through the Puremix platform. This platform is headed by Fabrice Dupont, a Grammy-winning sound engineer and producer known for his work with artists like Shakira, Snarky Puppy, and Bad Bunny.

Mixing acoustic jazz

I love jazz. When mixing acoustic jazz, I prioritize organic staging over contemporary studio conventions. While modern mixes typically center the drums and bass while panning the piano low-to-high across the spectrum, I opt for a strict ‘stage-perspective’ approach. By placing instruments in their natural physical positions and enhancing the depth with ambient reverb, I aim to preserve the sonic integrity of the ensemble.
